John 14:15

"If you love Me, keep My Commandments."

There was a message preached back by David Wilkerson heard by Pastor Mike Dorsey when he was in Jimmy Swaggart Bible College talking about the Love of God and the Prodigal Son.  David Wilkerson in his message said, "Why did the son leave the father? The son left the father because he stopped loving the father.  God is telling the Church-You don't love Me anymore!"

In John 21:15, we read about Jesus asking Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?"

How much do we really love God?

Jesus says in Matthew 15:8, "This people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips; but their heart is far from Me."

When you love God with all your heart, you would want to live right, you would want to give money to God.  Loving God is not a relationship with the pastor or people.  Loving God is a relationship with the Lord.

Jesus says in Matthew 22:37-39, "You will love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.  This is the greatest Commandment.  The second is like to it, You will love your neighbor as yourself."

If you love Jesus, you will do what He says.

Some people in the Church have slipped away and stopped serving God, and when they stop serving God, they stop loving God.  Through this, they have convinced themself that they are okay.  The Church has become like the Prodigal Son.  The Church is in the pig slop because they have fallen away.  The Prodigal Son became tired and wanted to change, just like some people in the Church.  The Prodigal Son then said, "I will get up and go to my Father, and will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against Heaven, and before you, and am no more worthy to be called your son: make me as one of your hired servants.  He got up, and came to his Father.  But when he was yet a great way off, his Father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him." (Luke 15:18-20).  If you are tired...go to the Father! If you want a change...run to God and fall in love with Him!

When we run to God, our Father, we get the same response the father had with the Prodigal Son, "But the Father said to his servants, "Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: bring here the fatted calf, and kill it; let us eat, and be merry: for this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found." (Luke 15:22-24)

The next part of verse 24 tells us that, "And they began to be merry." (Luke 15:24)  This shows us that the son fell back in love with his father, just like the Church needs to do!

We could all love God more!

What an awesome Sunday Service. A mighty move of the Spirit. Great Praise and Worship followed up with an inspiring word of God. Solomon said that the whole duty of man is to fear God and keep his commandments. Matthew tells us about the two greatest commandment about loving God and our neighbors. A person saved by the blood of the Lamb, and filled with the Holy Spirit should naturally reflect this fruit of the Spirit, the first fruit of Love. I'm glad that God's Love is never expiring for his Sons and Daughters.
